| Obverse description | A detailed letterpress vignette occupies the central field, presenting a panoramic view of Düsseldorf with the Rhine bridge at left and the Schlossturm at right, pedestrian figures in the foreground. Large blackletter text reading 'Fünfhunderttausend Mark' arches across the design, with the issuer's name in a scroll cartouche at top centre reading 'Stadt Düsseldorf'. | Reverse description | The reverse is printed in two colours, with a large crowned lion passant vignette as an underprint in ochre-tan forming the central background motif, flanked by a large decorative initial 'D' at left incorporating an anchor device. The denomination '500 000' is set in large bold numerals split across the upper corners. A multi-line text block in Fraktur script states the obligation of payment by the City of Düsseldorf to the bearer, dated 'Düsseldorf, 1. August 1923', signed by the Lord Mayor ('Der Oberbürgermeister'). A note of authorisation from the Reichsfinanzministerium appears below the ornamental border at the foot. |
