| Obverse description | Portrait of General Augusto César Sandino in three-quarter view at right, wearing his characteristic wide-brimmed hat, rendered in fine intaglio engraving against a multicolour guilloche underprint. A large dark oval overprint at centre bears the new denomination numerals '500000' above the legend 'QUINIENTOS MIL / UN MIL CÓRDOBAS', applied over the original 1,000 Córdobas base note. The issuer's title 'Banco Central de Nicaragua' appears across the top, with series letter, serial number, and three signature panels with titles at the foot of the note. |
