The left panel carries the municipal coat of arms of Rheydt — a heraldic shield quartered with a turreted castle above and a Teutonic cross below — beneath which the legend 'Gutschein der Stadt Rheydt' is set in Gothic script, with the series and serial number in the upper left corner. The right panel bears the denomination 'Fünfhundertmillionen Mark' in bold Gothic lettering across the top, with the numeral '500' rendered as a large pale underprint guilloche and the word 'MILLIONEN' in large capitals overlaid upon it; below, a three-line redemption text, the date 'Rheydt, den 28. Aug. 1923', the title 'Der Oberbürgermeister', and a manuscript signature of the mayor complete the design. The printer's imprint 'Heinrich Deussen & Co. Rheydt' appears at the foot of the note. |
