| 备注 |
By mid-1944, Axis occupation had driven Greek inflation to levels that made even eight-digit denominations functionally inadequate within weeks of issue. This 500,000,000 drachmai note belongs to the terminal phase of that collapse — the Reichsbank-backed printing operation that had been flooding Greece with currency since 1941 had so thoroughly destroyed purchasing power that notes of this size were used for daily transactions, not exceptional ones.
The Agrinion designation indicates the branch of issue, a regional identifier the Bank of Greece applied across this hyperinflationary series to track distribution. The November 1944 currency reform replaced 50 billion old drachmai with one new drachma, effectively erasing the entire series from monetary relevance overnight.
