| 裏面の説明 | A forward-facing crowned bust of King Bolesław I Chrobry (Bolesław the Brave), first King of Poland, depicted in medieval regal attire with an ornate crown bearing fleur-de-lis finials and wearing a fur-trimmed royal mantle secured by a clasp at the chest. The effigy is rendered in a stylized, low-relief portrait occupying the majority of the field. The legend 'BOLESŁAW I CHROBRY' arcs along the upper periphery, while the regnal dates '992 - 1025' are inscribed along the right side of the field, as engraved by Stanisława Wątróbska-Frindt. |

Bolesław I Chrobry — Bolesław the Brave — was the first crowned King of Poland, receiving his crown in 1025 just weeks before his death. This 1980 issue belongs to a long-running People's Republic series honoring medieval Polish rulers, a quietly nationalist program that the communist government tolerated, perhaps because dynastic pride was safer political ground than more recent history. The series was struck in substantial numbers for the collector market, both domestic and export, through Mennica Polska's hard-currency trade operations.
