| Reverse description | Two horses depicted in the traditional Chinese ink-painting style, standing at the water's edge and drinking, rendered with finely detailed manes and musculature against a mirror-proof field. An artist's seal cartouche appears to the lower left with the cyclical characters 庚午 (gēng wǔ, the Year of the Horse), and a second seal to the right bearing the artist's name 徐悲鸿图 (after Xu Beihong). The denomination 50元 is inscribed in the lower central field in bold characters. The composition evokes the celebrated horse paintings of the renowned Chinese master Xu Beihong. |
