Beschrijving keerzijde The reverse features a stylized central medallion depicting a traditional Lagatoi sailing canoe with a human athletic figure above it, rendered in uncolored relief against the field. Surrounding the central device is a prominent circular band divided into multicolored segments replicating traditional woven mat patterns, applied in color printing with blue, yellow, green, red, and black sections. The circumferential legend PORT MORESBY 2015 · XV PACIFIC GAMES · PAPUA NEW GUINEA runs along the outer edge of the heptagonal flan in raised Latin letters. The overall design commemorates the XV Pacific Games hosted in Port Moresby in 2015.

Aanvullende informatie

The XV Pacific Games were hosted by Port Moresby in 2015 — the first time Papua New Guinea had taken on the event, and a significant organizational undertaking for a country whose infrastructure had drawn skepticism from regional bodies during the bidding process. The colored coin program issued alongside the games was part of a broader commemorative strategy by the Bank of Papua New Guinea, which had been expanding its collector series through the 2010s.

KM#68 is one of relatively few circulation-format PNG coins to carry applied color, a process more common in the country's bullion and proof collector output.
