Obverse description Concave upper field of a waisted silver sycee ingot of characteristic boat or saddle form, bearing thirteen stamped administrative cartouches arranged in vertical columns across the surface. The stamps are impressed in traditional Chinese regular script (kaishu) and record the issuing authority, mint location at Yangzhou, the relevant fiscal year (14th year of Zhiyuan, corresponding to 1277), purity grade, declared weight of fifty taels, and the names of responsible officials including casting officers, silversmiths, and treasury supervisors. The cast surface displays the natural flow lines and granular texture characteristic of high-purity silver sycee production under the Yuan dynasty.
