Descrizione del dritto	Bare-headed portrait bust of President Julius Kambarage Nyerere facing left, rendered in high relief with fine surface detail. Flanking the effigy are two decorative foliate sprigs, one to each side. The legend 'TANZANIA 1974' arcs along the upper periphery, while 'RAIS WA KWANZA' (meaning 'First President') curves along the lower rim, all in Latin script against a deeply mirrored proof field.

Descrizione del rovescio	A full-bodied Black Rhinoceros (Diceros bicornis) stands facing right in the centre field, rendered in bold sculptural relief with naturalistic detail including textured hide and prominent horn.
