Obverse description The Austrian Imperial Eagle displayed at center, rendered in bold relief with wings spread and talons visible, its head crowned and holding a hammer and sickle. The eagle is surrounded by eight provincial shield escutcheons arranged in the field. The engraver's signature NORZ appears in small lettering below the eagle. The circular legend reads REPUBLIK ÖSTERREICH above and FÜNFZIG SCHILLING below, all in Latin script.
