| Opmerkingen |
Regional emergency currency issued by the Palembang local government during the Indonesian National Revolution, when the fledgling Republic struggled to maintain a coherent monetary system against Dutch reimposition of colonial authority. Central bank supply lines were unreliable at best, and regional administrations across Sumatra took it upon themselves to issue scrip to keep local economies functioning. Palembang, as a major oil-producing center, had particular strategic and economic weight during this period.
Printed locally on lined paper — almost certainly repurposed stock rather than purpose-made currency paper. That detail alone tells you something about the conditions under which it was produced.
