The Seychelles Monetary Authority was itself a transitional institution — created in 1978 to replace the Currency Board system and later superseded by the Central Bank of Seychelles in 1983. This note falls squarely in that five-year window, making the SMA series one of the shorter-lived issuing authorities in the region's monetary history.
Bradbury Wilkinson's New Malden facility handled a significant share of Commonwealth and post-colonial currency work through the 1970s and 1980s before the firm was absorbed by De La Rue in 1990.
