| Descrizione del dritto | The obverse features the State Emblem of the Russian Federation — a double-headed eagle displayed, crowned with three imperial crowns, holding an orb and sceptre in its talons, with an escutcheon depicting St. George slaying the dragon on its breast. The legend РОССИЙСКАЯ ФЕДЕРАЦИЯ curves along the upper periphery, flanked by two small decorative diamond-shaped ornaments at either side of the field. Inscriptions in the lower field read БАНК РОССИИ, 50 РУБЛЕЙ, and 2016 г., with the fineness designation Au 999 to the lower left and the weight 7,78 along with the Saint Petersburg Mint mark (СПМД) to the lower right. The proof finish renders the mirror field and frosted devices in sharp contrast, giving the emblem exceptional sculptural depth. |

Issued as part of the Bank of Russia's long-running historical series on Russian banking and finance, this piece commemorates organized savings institutions that trace back to the state savings banks established under Nicholas I in 1841. Those early sberegatel'nye kassy were explicitly designed to encourage thrift among the lower classes, operating initially through just two branches — one in St. Petersburg, one in Moscow — before expanding across the empire over the following decades.
