The eagle bears on its breast a shield charged with two five-pointed stars above vertical stripes, a design emblematic of the United Arab Republic. The eagle stands upon a scroll bearing an Arabic legend identifying the state. The field is plain, and the coin is bordered by a reeded rim. The overall composition reflects the heraldic style adopted by the UAR following the union of Egypt and Syria in 1958. |

| Description du revers | The reverse is dominated by the large Arabic numeral '50' in the center of the field, denoting the denomination. Surrounding the central numeral is a circular Arabic commemorative legend occupying the upper and lateral portions of the field, recording the founding of the United Arab Republic on 22 February 1958. To the lower left and right of the numeral appear the Hijri year 1378 and the Gregorian year 1959 respectively. Below the denomination, the denomination in words 'قرشاً سورياً' (Syrian Piastres) is inscribed. The entire design is enclosed within a reeded border. |
