Issued under the FAO's "Food for All" campaign of the mid-1970s, this piece was part of a coordinated global program that prompted dozens of nations to strike commemorative circulation coinage promoting agricultural development. Burma's participation aligned with Ne Win's socialist government, which had nationalized the country's entire banking sector in 1969, folding it under the Union of Burma Bank — the sole issuing authority by the time these were struck.
