Cairo University's Faculty of Law, founded in 1906, was the first secular law school in Egypt and produced a remarkable share of the country's twentieth-century political leadership — Nasser's government drew heavily from its graduates. This commemorative was issued as part of the Central Bank's ongoing institutional anniversary series, which has grown to encompass dozens of university and governmental milestones since the 1990s.
.720 silver was the Egyptian standard for commemorative issues of this period, a deliberate cost-containment choice that kept face value nominally meaningful.
