Aanvullende informatie

This is a piece of German Notgeld — emergency currency issued privately during the severe coin shortages of World War I and its aftermath. Businesses like Holnburger's inn and butcher shop in Miesbach issued their own small-denomination tokens to make change when official coinage had effectively vanished from circulation, hoarded by the public or melted for the metal. Zinc was the material of necessity: copper and nickel had long since been requisitioned for the war effort.
