| Obverse description | Green letterpress-printed Notgeld note framed by an ornamental border of floral and geometric guilloche motifs. The left panel contains a circular municipal coat of arms vignette at upper left and a round Gemeinde Ruhla seal at lower left, separated from the main field by a vertical decorative rule. The heading reads 'Städte Ruhla.' in Gothic blackletter, followed by the denomination '50 Pf. Gut für 50 Pf.' in green and the value 'Fünfzig Pfennig' in bold red Fraktur script, with the place and date of issue 'Ruhla, den 15. September 1918.' and the issuing authority 'Die Stadtgemeindevorständ' above two manuscript signatures. |

Below the vignette, a redemption clause is set in three underlined lines of Gothic script, stating the note is valid only in Ruhla and that the town undertakes to redeem it within one year of the peace treaty. |
