Bad Sachsa's municipal notgeld was part of the vast wave of small-denomination emergency paper issued by German towns during the postwar coin shortage — but Louis Koch of Halberstadt was a regional printer with a specific footprint in Harz-area notgeld production, handling commissions for several neighboring municipalities in 1920–21.
