Obverse description Orange and green Notgeld note with a central oval vignette on a cream ground enclosing a full-length figure of the 'Aalweber' (eel weaver), a traditional Hamburg street vendor dressed in a top hat, white coat and striped trousers, holding a string of eels in one hand and a basket in the other. The oval is surrounded by a Low German dialect verse inscription running along its border, with the denomination numeral '50' repeated in black-outlined cartouches at the upper left and right corners. A lower panel carries the validity inscription, the signature of Director Prof. Dr. J. Voss, and a serial number, above the large denomination legend '50 Pfg.' at the foot.
