Beschrijving keerzijde A continuous pearl border encircles the entire reverse field. The numeral '50', representing the denomination of 50 Pfennig, is boldly rendered in large, plain block figures and occupies the central field, filling it almost entirely. The design is intentionally simple and unadorned, characteristic of emergency coinage issued during World War I, with no additional legend, symbol, or decorative element beyond the bordering pearl circle.

Aanvullende informatie

Wemding issued this zinc notgeld piece in 1917, when the wartime metal requisitions that had stripped German municipalities of copper and nickel forced local authorities to mint emergency coinage from whatever industrial metals remained available. Zinc was deeply unpopular for this purpose — it corrodes readily in circulation and imparts a dull, unpleasant strike — but by mid-war there was little choice. Most surviving examples show the characteristic surface oxidation and minor lamination flaws inherent to the alloy.
