Obverse description The obverse is dominated by a large spread eagle vignette at centre, rendered in a bold woodcut-style letterpress, with wings spanning the full width of the note. Below the eagle, two heraldic shields are suspended: the left shield is red charged with seven six-pointed stars in white, and the right shield is light blue bearing three conifers on a landscape ground with a small red heart above. The denomination numeral "50" appears in red at centre between the shields, flanked by the Gothic script inscription "Notgeld" and "Pfennig", while an elaborate acanthus-scroll border frames the entire composition. The town name "Auma" is inscribed in Gothic lettering along the lower margin, with the printer's imprint "Jügelt's Buchdruckerei, Auma i. Thür." in small text at the very foot of the note.
