Opmerkingen

Sportverein Kahla was one of dozens of minor German sports clubs that issued notgeld during the 1921 small-change crisis — a peculiar moment when municipalities, businesses, and private organizations alike were legally permitted to fill the void left by hoarded official coinage. A sports club issuing emergency currency is unusual enough to pause on; it speaks to how thoroughly the crisis had penetrated civil life in provincial Thuringia.

J. P. Himmer of Augsburg was a commercial printer, not a specialist security firm, which is typical of the lower-budget notgeld issues from non-municipal bodies. Himmer handled considerable regional notgeld volume in this period.
