Reverse description The reverse is printed in red-orange, green, and black on cream paper with an overall geometric floral underprint. A central oval vignette, framed by a laurel wreath tied with a ribbon scroll at the base, shows an athlete in mid-throw performing the shot put (Kugelstoßen) on a green field beneath a clouded sky; a label within the vignette reads Leichtathletik Kugelstossen. Above the vignette the club's circular emblem appears at centre flanked by the series designations SERIE A. at left and GRUPPE 3. at right, with the denomination numeral 50 in each upper corner. Below, the inscription 3. MITTELDEUTSCHES SECHSER-TURNIER KAHLA 1921 is followed by DIE TURNIER-LEITUNG: and a manuscript facsimile signature.

Comments

Sportverein Kahla was one of dozens of minor German sports clubs that issued notgeld during the 1921 small-change crisis — a peculiar moment when municipalities, businesses, and private organizations alike were legally permitted to fill the void left by hoarded official coinage. A sports club issuing emergency currency is unusual enough to pause on; it speaks to how thoroughly the crisis had penetrated civil life in provincial Thuringia.

J. P. Himmer of Augsburg was a commercial printer, not a specialist security firm, which is typical of the lower-budget notgeld issues from non-municipal bodies. Himmer handled considerable regional notgeld volume in this period.
