At the top, the legend 'NOTW ECHSELGELD' arches across the note with the validity inscription 'Gültig bis 1. Juli 1921' beneath it; at the lower register, the redemption clause reads 'EINLÖSUNG NUR IM SCHABBELHAUS IN LÜBECK – MENGSTR. 36'. The printer's imprint 'H.G. Rahtgens Lübeck' appears at the very foot of the note. |

The central scene presents an interior view of the Schabbelhaus restaurant in Lübeck, with tall mullioned windows, architectural columns, period furnishings and lush foliage visible beyond the glazing, all executed in a fine cross-hatched illustrative style. The composition is enclosed within an elaborate Art Nouveau-style scrolled border, and a curved banner at the foot of the vignette bears the establishment name 'SCHABBELHAUS' in bold capital letters. |
