| Obverse description | Tan-toned notgeld note with a bold hand-drawn artistic design signed 'Virck 1920' at lower corners. A central cartouche in an irregular ornamental frame bears the large numeral '50' above the denomination text 'PFENNIG', flanked on both sides by stylised clusters of grapes on trailing vines. At the top, the legend 'NOTW ECHSELGELD' arches across the note with the validity inscription 'Gültig bis 1. Juli 1921' beneath it; at the lower register, the redemption clause reads 'EINLÖSUNG NUR IM SCHABBELHAUS IN LÜBECK – MENGSTR. 36'. The printer's imprint 'H.G. Rahtgens Lübeck' appears at the very foot of the note. |
