At centre, the municipal coat of arms of Apolda appears above the large red numeral '50', with the denomination 'PFENNIG' in bold black letterpress beneath. Validity and acceptance clauses in Gothic script flank the central vignette on left and right, with two manuscript signatures below their respective official titles and the issue date 'Apolda, den 1. August 1921.' at foot. |

The series letter 'A' in red appears in the upper left corner of the vignette field, while the denomination '50' in red is repeated in all four corners of the ornate outer border. Below the town view, a two-line rhyming couplet in Gothic script identifies the town's colloquial name. |
