The "Prinzenraub" — the Prince Theft — refers to the 1455 abduction of two Saxon princes from Altenburg Castle by the knight Kunz von Kaufungen, one of the more dramatic episodes in Thuringian medieval history and a point of persistent local pride. Altenburg leaned on this story repeatedly in its Notgeld output, and the 1921 Schwarz-printed series is among the more elaborately thematic issues from the region.

J. A. Schwarz of Lindenberg im Allgäu was a prolific Notgeld printer whose output during the 1921–1922 inflation wave was substantial enough that quality and registration consistency varied across runs.
