Reverse description The large denomination numeral '50' dominates the central field in bold relief, surmounted by a stylised oak leaf sprig rendered in fine detail. The mint mark 'A' appears above the sprig near the upper rim. The denomination inscription 'PFENNIG' is struck in capital letters below the numeral, with the date '1968' appearing in the lower exergual area. The composition of the reverse is clean and graphically bold, typical of mid-twentieth century German numismatic design.

Additional information

In 1968 the GDR's mint in Berlin produced a series of brass pattern pieces as part of an internal evaluation for circulating coinage redesigns that never reached production. The 50 Pfennig denomination was among several tested that year. KM#Pr6 represents one of the very few documented survivors of that process — patterns of this type were not released publicly and most were destroyed or retained in state collections.
