Municipal governments across Bavaria were left to mint their own emergency coinage simply to keep local commerce functioning. Neustadt an der Donau, a small market town on the Danube north of Regensburg, was among hundreds of Bavarian municipalities to do so in 1918. The Funck reference places this as variety 373.4A, distinguishing it within a series that saw multiple die and specification changes within the same issue year.
