| Beschrijving voorzijde | Centrally positioned municipal coat of arms of Neustadt an der Donau, depicting a crenellated gateway tower within a baroque cartouche-style shield, surmounted by a civic mural crown. The arms are rendered in moderate relief against a flat field. A dotted inner border ring frames the design, with the circular legend STADTGEMEINDE NEUSTADT A.D. reading around the periphery, punctuated by a small cross ornament at the base. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Issued in the final weeks of the First World War, this zinc notgeld piece was produced because the German imperial monetary system had effectively collapsed under wartime metal requisitioning — copper and nickel long since redirected to shell casings and military hardware. Municipal governments across Bavaria were left to mint their own emergency coinage simply to keep local commerce functioning. Neustadt an der Donau, a small market town on the Danube north of Regensburg, was among hundreds of Bavarian municipalities to do so in 1918.
The Funck reference places this as variety 373.4A, distinguishing it within a series that saw multiple die and specification changes within the same issue year.
