| Opis awersu | The note is framed by a decorative border of fir branches with red pinecones rendered in colour letterpress. At centre, the Thuringian coat of arms — a blue shield charged with a red and white striped lion rampant — forms the principal vignette, flanked on either side by large Gothic numeral '50'. A smaller inset vignette at the lower centre presents an aerial view of Leuchtenburg castle. The legend text in Gothic script runs across the upper and lower fields, recording the issuing authority, validity terms, place, date of 15 Juni 1921, and the signature of the Burgwirt Georg Okage. |

Ranis is a small castle town roughly 15 kilometers south of Kahla, and its inclusion in this Leuchtenburg series reflects a common Notgeld strategy: packaging regional identity to drive collector demand rather than meet any genuine currency shortage. By 1921, many municipalities were printing explicitly for the philatelic market, and Kahla was no exception.
J. P. Himmer of Augsburg handled a substantial volume of Notgeld commissions during this period, and the watermarked paper on this issue is a modest nod toward legitimacy in what was effectively a souvenir trade.
