Obverse description The note is framed by a decorative border of fir branches with red pinecones rendered in colour letterpress. At centre, the Thuringian coat of arms — a blue shield charged with a red and white striped lion rampant — forms the principal vignette, flanked on either side by large Gothic numeral '50'. A smaller inset vignette at the lower centre presents an aerial view of Leuchtenburg castle. The legend text in Gothic script runs across the upper and lower fields, recording the issuing authority, validity terms, place, date of 15 Juni 1921, and the signature of the Burgwirt Georg Okage.
