A figure in military uniform, arms outstretched and bound to a large sword whose crossguard forms a crucifix, is surrounded by an aureole of radiating light; six iron crosses stand in a semicircle on the ground below, evoking a military cemetery. A red banner at the foot of the design carries a two-line commemorative inscription in Gothic script honouring the fallen. |
