| Obverse description | A pearl border runs along the octagonal periphery, enclosing a circular rope border within which the municipal coat of arms of Finsterwalde is centrally displayed, depicting a heraldic shield with a tower above a fortified wall and decorative flanking elements. The Latin legend arcs around the upper and lower portions of the rope circle, reading STADTGEMEINDE at the top and FINSTERWALDE N/L at the bottom, each separated by a small floral ornament. The overall design is characteristic of World War I German notgeld emergency coinage, with a plain recessed field between the pearl border and the rope circle. |
