At centre, an oval cartouche bearing the historic city seal of Lörrach dated 1756, surrounded by elaborate scrollwork and displaying a stylised bird in flight. Text inscriptions appear in two columns flanking the vignette, with the serial number at lower left, the Bürgermeister's manuscript signature below centre, and the issuing authority 'GEMEINDERAT VON LÖRRACH' along the lower margin. The printer's imprint of Poppen & Ortmann, Freiburg i. B. appears in the bottom margin. |

At centre, an oval portrait vignette of Friedrich Hecker in a wide-brimmed hat, set within an ornate frame with drapery and crossed weapons in the background panels to either side. The date '1848' flanks the portrait at upper centre alongside the name 'Friedr. Hecker', commemorating the Baden revolutionary leader. The motto 'Freiheit · Bildung · Wohlstand' is inscribed along the lower margin in Gothic lettering. The designer's name 'K. Freund' appears at lower right. |
