Opmerkingen

Delitzsch is a small Saxon town north of Leipzig, and like hundreds of similar municipalities, it resorted to printing its own fractional currency during the catastrophic coin shortage that followed World War I. The Reichsbank could not keep small denomination metal in circulation — hoarding and melting were rampant — so local magistrates across Germany became de facto issuers by necessity, not by any formal monetary authority.

The designer credit to A. Uebel is notable. Local Notgeld series were frequently farmed out to regional printers with anonymous house artists, so a named designer suggests either civic pride in the commission or a contract with a Leipzig-area commercial printer that kept individual credits. The DeNG reference covering variants 1 through 4 and 6 implies a fifth variety is either unconfirmed or was documented separately.
