Röhrigshöfe-Werna is a small community in the Harz region, and like thousands of German municipalities it issued Notgeld during the currency chaos of the early 1920s. This particular piece was produced by Werbeverlag A.G. in Bremen — a commercial advertising publisher that took on Notgeld printing contracts as a sideline business, which partly explains why so many small-town emergency notes from this period have a distinctly promotional quality to their design aesthetic.

The DeNG reference suffix "1/6" indicates this belongs to a set of six notes, a series format that Werbeverlag actively encouraged among its municipal clients, effectively turning local Notgeld into collectible sets that would be hoarded rather than spent — precisely the point for cash-strapped communities trying to keep paper in reserve.
