The left panel, on a yellow ground, carries a four-stanza German poem in Gothic script signed 'J. Abt', recounting the miraculous history of the Gottsbüren pilgrimage site and its monastery. The right panel presents a devotional vignette of the body of Christ laid in repose, venerated by two dark-robed mourning figures beneath a radiating arch with candles and decorative drapery, framed by a curved inscription reading 'Toter wird als Leichnam Christi in der Kirche zu Gottesbüren aufgebahrt'. |
