| Beschrijving voorzijde | The obverse is divided into three vertical panels in a colourful letterpress design. The central vignette, signed by artist Heinz Schiestl, presents a detailed view of Xanten Cathedral (St. Viktor Dom) with its twin Gothic spires rising against a clouded sky. To the left stands a vignette of Saint Victor in bishop's robes holding a cross, above a heraldic shield bearing a blue cross; to the right stands Saint Helena with a halo, above a second heraldic shield. The denomination 'FÜNFZIG' and 'PFENNIG' appear in bold red letterpress at the lower left and right respectively, with the title legend 'Domschein der Siegfriedstadt Xanten' arching across the top in Gothic blackletter script. |
