Hagen im Bremischen is a small rural municipality in Lower Saxony, and its 1921 Notgeld issue belongs to the vast wave of locally printed emergency currency that flooded Germany as the Reichsbank struggled to keep small-denomination coins in circulation amid postwar inflation.
