The denomination "Fünfzig Pfennig" is rendered in large blackletter script at centre, with the numeral 50 repeated in each corner. An oval municipal seal of Stadtlengsfeld — bearing a standing figure and heraldic shield — is centred between two facsimile manuscript signatures, beneath the issuing authority text and date "Stadtlengsfeld, den 1. Stadtlengsfeld is a small Thuringian town, and this 50 Pfennig note is a product of the Kleingeldersatz crisis of 1921 — the acute shortage of coin small change that forced thousands of German municipalities to print their own emergency currency. The printer, H. Stürtz AG in Würzburg, was one of the more technically capable university presses taking on notgeld contracts during this period, handling municipal commissions from well outside its immediate region.
The DeNG reference suffix "1a-4/6" indicates this is one of several variant states in the series — likely differing in serial numbering or overprint detail rather than a fundamental design change.
