Obverse description The obverse is printed in black, red, and ochre on white paper. A bold Fraktur heading reads 'Sonnen-Wende 1921' across the top, below which a vignette to the left carries a half-length portrait of Otto von Bismarck in military uniform and white peaked cap, set against a stippled background and flanked on the far left by a vertical decorative border of oak leaves and acorns in red and ochre with red ruled lines. To the right of the portrait, the denomination numeral '50' appears within a ruled panel ornamented with oak-leaf sprigs, above the issuer place-name 'Parey a. d. Elbe' rendered in large red and black Fraktur script.

Reverse description The reverse is printed in violet on paper with a full-bleed violet ground. A decorative rectangular border of interlocking foliate guilloche encloses the central text field, within which a large lightly-printed '50' underprint in spiral form occupies the centre. Above the border, a two-line letterpress text in Latin script states the redemption obligation of the Spar- und Creditbank zu Parey a. Elbe. The interior carries an eight-line patriotic verse in Antiqua type, and below the border the series designation 'Ausgabe A. Nr.' with a handwritten serial number appears in bold Fraktur, with the printer's imprint 'W. Wackernagel, Magdeburg, Margarethenstr. 4' in small type at the foot.
Reverse lettering Fünfzig Pfennig zahlt die Spar- und Creditbank zu Parey a. Elbe gegen Einlösung dieses Scheines bis zum 1. April 1922.
