The central scene renders, in the manner of a paper-cut Scherenschnitt, a corpulent top-hatted burgher gesturing toward a young boy and a woman in traditional dress, with a small church steeple visible between the figures; the artist's signature appears in the lower left of the vignette. A Fraktur legend in the upper green panel and a second in the lower green panel complete the humorous verse. |
