Obverse description The obverse is printed on buff-coloured paper within a red and black chequered border. At centre, a large colour vignette presents the Bernburg civic coat of arms — a red-brick gatehouse with twin towers, surmounted by a bear passant, and supported by a shield below bearing a Saxon diagonal stripe and a Hohenzollern eagle — flanked on either side by scroll cartouches containing the large blue numeral '50'. Two manuscript signatures appear to the right of the vignette above the designation 'Der Magistrat' and 'Rendant', with the artist's name 'Heinz Schiestl' inscribed in small lettering at the base of the vignette. The serial number is printed in black at lower left.

Reverse description The reverse is printed in orange, green, and brown tones within a decorative border. A central colour vignette illustrates the former Karlskaserne building, repurposed as the Neues Rathaus (New Town Hall), rendered in a detailed architectural street view with trees in the foreground. The denomination '50' appears in large green guilloche numerals within ornamental panels on both flanks, with 'Pf' abbreviated below each. Inscribed banners above and below the vignette carry locally themed satirical and poetic texts in Gothic blackletter script.
