The upper portion carries the denomination numeral '50' in circular cartouches at each corner, flanked by a central diamond-shaped vignette inscribed 'Pfennige'. Below, a bold letterpress legend reads 'NOTGELD DES FLECKENS SCHARMBECK', beneath which a large central vignette presents the town's heraldic coat of arms — two rampant lions supporting a crowned shield — enclosed within a decorative oval surround bearing the motto 'OHN FLEISS KEIN PREIS'.
