Mainbernheim is among the smallest municipalities ever to issue emergency currency — a walled Franconian town whose population at the time of this note's printing barely exceeded a few hundred. The chronic coin shortage of 1920 drove even such minor communes to commission their own Kleingeldersatz, and Konrad Triltsch in Würzburg handled a considerable share of that regional demand, producing notes for numerous small Bavarian and Franconian issuers during the same period.

The DeNG dual reference (0859.1-2/2) indicates two distinct types within the series, making completeness a minor puzzle for specialist collectors of Franconian Notgeld.
