| Obverse description | Notgeld (emergency currency) voucher printed in brown and black on cream paper, with a decorative border of fine saw-tooth and scroll ornament. The denomination 'Fünfzig' is rendered in large Gothic script on a scroll vignette at centre, with 'Pfennig' below and the numeral '50' repeated at left and right. A text block in Kurrent script states the redemption conditions, giving the place and date 'Emmerich, den 15. November 1918', followed by the legend 'Der Bürgermeister' with a manuscript signature. At lower left, a circular embossed stamp reads 'Siegel der Stadt Emmerich' around the municipal arms. |
