| 表面の説明 | Pink and dark brown Notgeld note with a typographic layout on a cross-hatched guilloche underprint. The heading GUTSCHEIN spans the upper register, below which the denomination FÜNFZIG PFENNIG appears in bold blackletter flanking a central circular medallion bearing the numeral 50 / PF. on a stippled ground. Redemption text occupies two columns on either side of the medallion, with the issuer line RENDSBURG 1 JULI 1918 at the foot above four manuscript signatures over the titles BÜRGERMEISTER, SENATOR, STADTV·VORST., and STADTVUST·STVTR. |

Rendsburg's 1918 Kleingeldscheine emerged from the acute coin shortage that gripped Germany as the war economy absorbed copper, nickel, and zinc. Municipal authorities across the Reich were authorized to issue low-denomination emergency paper — Notgeld in the strictest sense — to keep small transactions functioning when official coinage had effectively disappeared from circulation.
Rendsburg sits at the junction of the Kiel Canal and the Schleswig-Holstein interior, a garrison town with sustained commercial activity that made the shortage genuinely disruptive rather than merely inconvenient. The city's 50 Pfennig issue was a practical stop-gap, not a commemorative exercise — the decorative Notgeld craze came later, in 1921–22.
