Ornamental panels in each corner display foliate and acanthus motifs, with the numeral '50' printed in bold type within the left and right border cartouches. The inscription 'ALTES RATHAUS GÖRLITZ.' appears in the upper right field, and the printer's imprint 'Carl Schleicher & Schüll Düren' is present at the foot of the design. |

This note's dual authorship is worth pausing on: co-issued by both the municipal government and the regional chamber of commerce, an arrangement that spread liability across civic and mercantile bodies at a moment when local Notgeld issuers were scrambling to establish credibility. Görlitz sat on the Prussian-Saxon border, and the Handelskammer für die Preußische Oberlausitz specifically served the Prussian slice of Upper Lusatia — the Saxon side had its own institutions.
Carl Schleicher & Schüll in Düren were primarily a filter paper manufacturer who pivoted to emergency currency printing during the wartime Notgeld flood. An unusual provenance for a note issuer.
